Two and a half years ago we decided that the Tennessee Valley deserved a parenting magazine that would meet the needs of hopeful, expectant and new parents in North Alabama. Thus Valley Babies was conceived. In August of 2006 our first issue hit the stands, and we’ve been doing our best to provide education, information, support and encouragement to our readers ever since. We want to continue offering the information you want. When readers give us story ideas, we try to find a way to incorporate them into an upcoming issue.

Just as we have for the last two years, we are featuring area hospitals in our August/September issue. We will keep this information on-line at our website all year long. This year we had each hospital provide an article and picture and fill out a questionnaire so you can see each one at a glance. You have told us how much this information has helped you in the past, so we hope you’ll like this year’s version.

Grandparents’ Day is in September, so we had Cathy Woods, a new grandmother, give us an overview from her journal about the experience of becoming a grandma. World Breastfeeding Week is the first week of August, so of course we have a couple of breastfeeding articles. You will also find some tips on car seat safety. You’ll notice we don’t have a featured physician this issue. Our Meet the Physician feature will return in October.

If you haven’t checked out our online magazine recently, take time to do so. You just might find a special contest there! Thanks for helping Valley Babies become the number one magazine for new parents in North Alabama!
